Where it all began for me
My love for creating clipper designs came at a young age. As a teenager I was given the task of shaving my brothers and cousins hair, quickly growing bored of regular buzz cuts and attempted fades I started to get a little more adventurous and attempting small logos and designs. There was nothing I wouldnβt try, as long as I had a willing model I would give anything a go.
In the early days I made a few mistakes but there was no harm done as it was all for a bit of fun at first. Soon I started to realise that I had a natural skill for this kind of work and my work started to stand out, even if only in my neighbourhood, where I had queues out of my mums kitchen. I had no aspirations of becoming a Barber at this time, I just enjoyed creating clipper art in peoples hair and the challenge of trying to make it as artistic as I could.
I was always told that this was an unprofitable skill and that no one would ever pay for these types of styles. Regardless of other peoples opinions I carried on pushing myself to do more complex designs and really enjoyed carrying on with my clipper art from home on anybody who was willing to let me loose on their head.
Leaving school I had many jobs, but was never satisfied with them, in the background always keeping up my passion for clipper art. Becoming a young father inspired me to find a job closer to home and also a job that I enjoyed. I decided to ignore other peoples negative opinions and go to college to see if I had what it takes to become a Barber, I was in disbelief at how my tutors reacted to my so called unprofitable skill. they were blown away, this gave me the confidence to progress and develop as a Barber. Over the years my self taught style has developed, I have gone from creating designs for my family and friends in my kitchen, to owning my own successful barber shop with nine like-minded staff members, I regularly compete in competitions and have won awards for both my barbering and clipper design work.
